Trees and Development

Expert arboricultural guidance to help your planning application run smoothly — from BS5837 surveys to on-site support during construction.

Overview

If you’re planning a development or making changes to property or land near trees, you’ll need arboricultural input to ensure trees are properly considered throughout the planning process. Our work supports construction, demolition, design and renovation, and all reports conform to BS5837:2012 Trees in Relation to Design, Demolition and Construction.

What’s included

  • BS5837 Tree Surveys — assessment of existing trees to inform design, layout and planning decisions.
  • Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA) — evaluation of how proposed development may affect trees, with clear, proportionate mitigation strategies.
  • Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS) — step-by-step guidance for protecting trees during construction, including Tree Protection Plans (TPPs) for retained trees.
  • Clerk of Works — on-site arboricultural supervision and advice, often requested by Local Authorities to ensure compliance during sensitive stages of construction.

How it works

The planning process around trees can be complex. Get in touch and we’ll talk through your project, identify what’s required, and guide you through each stage.
